My art is an expression of my mind.
— Yayoi Kusama
BcA. Dorota Kaustová (b. 1999, Ostrava, Czech Republic) is a fine art enameller and animator. As a contemporary expressionist she is working across figurative, and abstract practices. Her work is inspired by the movement and vitality of nature, which she transforms into surreal phenomena that evoke intense emotional responses. Through her practice, she seeks to capture this sense of grace and emotional intensity, combining it with the elegance and rawness of the human body. In her work, the body often undergoes a metamorphosis into abstract linear forms, reflecting her ongoing exploration of the fragility of the human psyche.
As an enameller, she works on steel enamel sheets, into which she engraves and applies layered enamel paint, creating transparent, glass-like surfaces and glazes. Her engraving process emphasizes variation in line thickness and dynamic movement, reinforcing the expressive qualities of her work. These works are then fired at 800°C in a industrial oven, making it durable and time resiliant. Since 2025, she has been a member of the Art Enamel Workshop in Frýdek-Místek, the only one of its kind operating in Europe.
